In a large mixing bowl, cream the shortening, butter. Add granulated sugar and brown sugar. Mix until well incorporated.
Add eggs and vanilla to the mixture. Mix.
Add the flour, baking soda, and salt to the mixing bowl and mix until all ingredients are well combined.
Fold in or mix in chocolate chips until they are evenly dispersed throughout the dough.
Refrigerate cookie dough for 45 minutes.
Preheat oven to 375 degrees fahrenheit.
After chilling the dough, spoon rounded tablespoons onto a baking sheet. Bake cookies for 8-10 minutes. The cookies should start to golden around the edges.
Let cookies cool on the pan for 1 minute before moving to a cooling rack. Let cookies cool. Enjoy!
